Wuhan unexplained viral pneumonia medical treatment group expert, Hubei Provincial People's Hospital respiratory professor Hooke 10, said the majority of patients are now mild to moderate. After treatment, the patient's condition can be controlled, the initial admission of patients have been partially cured and discharged, most of the other patients in hospital are stable.
Since the end of December last year, Wuhan has diagnosed a number of unexplained viral pneumonia patients, as of January 5, a total of 59 diagnosed, some of the patients are operating in the South China Seafood Wholesale Market. On the 9th, the expert group leader of the preliminary evaluation of the results of pathogen detection, academician Xu Jianguo of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that the expert group believed that the pathogen of this unexplained case of viral pneumonia was initially identified as a new type of coronavirus.
Hooke said the main clinical manifestations of patients with unexplained viral pneumonia were fever, fatigue, cough and less sputum, and some patients developed symptoms such as dyspnea as the condition progressed. Laboratory examination showed that the total number of white blood cells was normal or decreased in the early stage of the disease, the lymphocyte count decreased, and the liver enzyme and muscle enzyme levels increased in some patients.
He said an analysis of data collected from patients diagnosed with unexplained viral pneumonia revealed that the disease was characterized as acute severe respiratory syndrome with mainly pneumonia. In the early stage of the disease, more than 90% have fever, about 80% have dry cough, more than 20% have chest tightness, about 20% have shortness of breath, about 15% show dyspnea; about 80% of cases have normal or reduced total number of white blood cells, all cases have chest imaging pneumonia.
